Gitorious behind your firewall

Running Gitorious on your own server provides your developers with the same features you find on gitorious.org — with the security of running behind your corporate firewall.

Virtual appliance

We provide a ready-to-use virtual appliance to be installed on your server. The CentOS based appliance contains the latest version of Gitorious, including all its features.

We keep your server running

We install and configure monitoring tools (such as Monit) on the server, which will keep all the Gitorious components running at all times, as long as the host system is operational and connected to the network.

Regular software updates

You will receive periodic updates of the Gitorious software — we usually update quarterly, more often for critical security patches.

Support

We provide support via email during our office hours: 9-17 CET, Monday-Friday, and will respond within one business day. We also offer additional, extended support contracts, including 24/7 phone support and end-user support. Read more about our support offerings here.

Reduced consulting rates

FAQ

When will my local install be ready?
Depending on the work required to get your server(s) ready, most new setups are completed within a week of ordering. Customizations (e.g. UI adjustments for your company, and so on) as well as new/modified features for your setup may take longer, depending on the amount of development needed. We will provide a plan for implementing Gitorious in your organization, along with estimates of the work required to get you up and running.
Can I integrate Gitorious with proprietary system X?
Most certainly. If your existing workflow is centered around an issue tracker or wiki, your users are managed centrally by an LDAP server or you have any other needs to use existing systems we can help you integrate Gitorious with them.
What are the technical specs for the virtual appliance?

Our stock offering consists of VMDK files that work well with VMware, Virtualbox and other virtualization technologies. The virtual appliance is based the CentOS operating system (5.x at the time of writing). If your needs are not covered by this setup, get in touch, and we will work something out.

Technical requirements for your hardware will vary depending on the number of users and level of activity. We recommend at least 4GB of RAM, dual core CPU and as much disk as needed. We can help further refine these requirements based on your specific needs.

How do you install Gitorious on my network?
We use Puppet to configure and maintain your server, so your server needs to connect to our Puppetmaster server to fetch configuration from that. We will provide a single IP address and port required to do so. Furthermore, in order to work effectively with your server, we need direct access over SSH. We will provide a single SSH public key and a static IP from which connections will originate.
Do you support Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
Since CentOS is based on RHEL, we fully support using that instead of CentOS, provided you purchase licenses for RHEL and perform a basic operating system installation on your server.
What do I need to know about the virtual appliance and its services?
The virtual appliance is designed to be self-sustaining and zero-maintenance. In case of a power outage or other problems with the host OS, all services will resume normal operation when the host is back up. In case of service disruption we will promptly assist you in getting things back up.
Can I add custom features at a later point?
Most certainly. As a Gitorious local install customer, you have access to the Gitorious core team at reduced consulting rates. This offer can be utilized at any point to add new features, prioritize certain fixes or further customize your install.
What am I paying for?
The fee we charge for Gitorious local install is not a license fee. In fact, Gitorious is and will always be Free Software, and you can run it entirely on your own , free of charge. However, buying Gitorious local install from Gitorious AS, allows you to trust us to keep your Gitorious running, solve any problems that may occur, and take care of upgrades and support. Gitorious local install is hassle-free Git hosting for your company.
